In this posts, we talked about Delta State plate number codes and what they mean. This article will explain, the meaning of the codes on Delta State Plate Numbers.
If it was private vehicle the license plates are generally white and the number itself is imprinted in blue. The background consists of an outline of a map of Nigeria. The top left corner bears the Nigerian flag, then state name and slogan is displayed at the top centre of the plate, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria is written at the bottom.
And if it was commercial vehicle the license plates are generally white and the number itself is imprinted in red. The background consists of an outline of a map of Nigeria. The top left corner bears the Nigerian flag, then state name and slogan is displayed at the top centre of the plate, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria is written at the bottom. These color codes and formats are standardized across Nigeria to facilitate easy identification of vehicle types and their respective ownership categories.
For example if you see a plate number like this (BMA-123XY) the first three letters (BMA) you see on above plate number indicates BOMADI Local Government area of registration for the vehicle, each local government has their three unique code, the Three-Digit Number (123) is unique serial number assigned to each vehicle in that LGA and it Runs from 001 to 999 before resetting. The Last Two Letters (XY) Randomly assigned alphabet combinations for additional uniqueness and it Helps differentiate vehicles with the same LGA code and serial number.
And what if you see it in opposite side like this (XY 123-BMA) what does it mean this format (XY-123 BMA) was introduced first introduced in 1992 and it was later changed to (BMA 123 XY) so both of them are still the same the only thing that different is the year it was introduced.
(The first two- letter followed by three digits number and following by three letters) was plate number that was introduced from 1992 to 2011 while (The first three – letters follow by three digits number follow by two letters) was the current one of the revise in 2011. The size of all number plate is ( 300mm x 152mm) (10 in x 5 in)
